About The XBroker

Radical Transparency

Jeff CorbettInspired by Redfin.com’s ‘Wall of Shame’ blog category, Jeff started TheXBroker.com in August of 2006 as a vehicle to express his industry knowledge and provocative opinion. Never one to shy away from a good debate and in constant need to have the last word, he’s been an active adversary of traditional real estate and mortgage business since running his own brokerages.

Born in 1971 in Buffalo New York, Jeff was a 7thgrade school system ‘computer experiment’, learning and teaching computer science to college professors at the University at at the age of twelve.

Formally educated in the biological sciences at Syracuse University and Barton College, once Jeff discovered how little entry level research science paid, he started his post collegiate career working for Branch Banking and Trust in The Triad area of North Carolina. From the inside, he learned about the worlds of finance and real estate and began to personally purchase property at the courthouse steps in hopes of raking in the riches.

Dealing with independent real estate, mortgage and contractor professionals in order to turn his real estate portfolio required far too much money and time. As a result, in 1999-2000 Jeff decided to start his own companies within these respective industries.

With a technologist’s mindset, his goal was to streamline the expensive and inefficient process of property acquisition and sale and over the course of 7 years. Jeff left traditional business practice in January 2006 to start a company: The XBroker. It’s mantra? Radically transparent technologies for the real estate and mortgage consumer, through the qualified professional.  The Juice?  RateSpeed,  an anonymous, automated, transparent, customizable wholesale mortgage program and interest rate pricing pre-qualification Search Engine.

Into his second start-up in 2 years, Jeff uses this blog to communicate with his (very) small universe, voice opinion, challenge authority and otherwise beat-down antiquated big business using a blunt keystroke. When this blog first started, the opinions shared were deemed cynical and self-serving, since then it provides a referencebale retrospective of what has become in these industries.

Jeff currently resides in Orange County, CA and suffers from constant entrepreneurial seizures.
